About the Author
Mary Giammona, MD is a pediatrician, mom, and grandma who has spent much of her life caring for and celebrating children. Her love for young people has been shaped not only by her work as a doctor, but also by the joy of being a mother and grandmother. Her two young grandchildren are a special source of happiness and inspiration in her life, just as her daughter, two grown granddaughters, and the many patients she has cared for over the years have been.
Throughout her career and family life, Dr. Giammona has seen the wonder, curiosity, and imagination that make childhood so meaningful. She believes children should feel loved, listened to, and valued, and that the adults in their lives have an important role in helping them grow with confidence and joy. Her stories are inspired by those simple but powerful moments children share with the people who care about them most.
Dr. Giammona has many stories running around in her mind, each one calling to come out onto the pages of a book. The Swings at Grandma’s House! is the latest story she is excited to share with readers. Filled with imagination, family warmth, and the special bond between grandparents and grandchildren, the book continues the heart behind her “Having Fun with Grandma” series.
She lives in Southern California with her husband and enjoys the rich multicultural nature of her family and the community around her. This diversity, along with her lifelong love for children, continues to influence the stories she writes and the messages she hopes to share.
